 Hi there,

  I have a few cds/DVDs with pictures. Freevo is able to identify it and
 build the thumbnails, but when I select one of the pictures freevo
 gives a error saying that it couldnt find the given image. If I
 manually mount the CD everything works like expected. should I fill a
 bug report?

 I will investigate exactly what is going on with freevo mounting CD/DVDs.

My guess is that you are using autofs to mount the drive?

If you are then use another device name for freevo and change your
ROM_DRIVES to point to this one.

The reason is that freevo automatically mounts CD/DVD drives and the
auto-mounter is un-mounting it.

BTW USB sticks and cameras are a different story, as freevo does not
automatically mount these.

 I've been testing quite a bit recently so this could make sense as I was
 starting freevo from ssh sessions and from within screen sessions.
 Normally it would have been started as a daemon, I'll see if I can
 reproduce it.

I don't think that screen would close the stdout, unless there is an
option to do this in screen.

I'm not really surprised that this is not working as mplayer does not
support the ivtv driver with the tv:// url.

You *need* to use the ivtv plugins and video groups

VIDEO_GROUPS = [
VideoGroup(vdev = '/dev/video0',
vvbi = '/dev/vbi0',
adev = '/dev/adsp',
input_type = 'Tuner 0',
input_num = 4, #0 or 4,
tuner_norm = CONF.tv,
tuner_chanlist = CONF.chanlist,
desc = 'PVR-350 Video Group',
group_type = 'ivtv',
record_group = None),
]

plugin.remove('tv.generic_record')
plugin_record = plugin.activate('tv.ivtv_record')

You can find out more by searching for ivtv in the wiki.

 Hi Duncan,

 I haven't been able to reproduce that error yet but got a different one
 on shutdown tonight. Freevo had been started by freevo -fs from a ssh
 session and this was on the console:

 Unhandled exception in thread started by bound method
 Identify_Thread.__bootstrap of Identify_Thread(Thread-2, stopped daemon)
 Traceback (most recent call last):

   File /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/freevo/config.py, line 124, in
 write
 lock.acquire()
 AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'acquire'

This is a strange error from config as lock is a global object that is
set at the beginning, the idea is to ensure that debug messages don't
overlap from the main thread and other threads.

Just in case I've added a test for lock.

Duncan

 Freevo shut down but the PC didn't power off as it should. As mentioned
 in the feature request I think this could be due to the audioscrobbler

 Hi Duncan,

 No... no automount! just a /etc/fstab with:

 /dev/hdd/dvd   iso9660 ro,user,noauto  0   0

 ROM_DRIVES is empty as sugested by comments, so freevo can just
 find the drive.

Comment is misleading it should be something like:

ROM_DRIVES = [
   ('/misc/dvd', '/dev/hdc', 'DVD'),
   ('/misc/dvdram', '/dev/hdd', 'DVD-RAM')
]

in udev/rules.d/10-local.rules you need something like:

KERNEL==hdc, SYMLINK+=cdrom dvd
KERNEL==hdd, SYMLINK+=dvdram

HTH
Duncan

 If you are then use another device name for freevo and change your
 ROM_DRIVES to point to this one.

 The reason is that freevo automatically mounts CD/DVD drives and the
 auto-mounter is un-mounting it.

 BTW USB sticks and cameras are a different story, as freevo does not
 automatically mount these.

   File /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/freevo/config.py, line 124, in
 write
 lock.acquire()

As mentioned
 in the feature request I think this could be due to the audioscrobbler
 plugin, I had disabled it over the last few days and had no problem. I
 re-enabled it today. /var/log/freevo/main-0.log shows:

 I've been testing quite a bit recently so this could make sense as I was
 starting freevo from ssh sessions and from within screen sessions.
 Normally it would have been started as a daemon, I'll see if I can
 reproduce it.

 I don't think that screen would close the stdout, unless there is an
 option to do this in screen.

 Duncan

If it was just a ssh session that had launched freevo -fs and then died?
I'd hazard a guess that was probably it.

[Freevo-users] Freevo-1.7.4 has been released

2007-11-15 Thread Duncan Webb
Hi all,

This is a very quick note to let you know that Freevo-1.7.4 has been
released today.

First I would very much like to thank everyone that has helped out with
this release it is a very big release with tar ball reaching 20MB, from
12MB for 1.7.3. Special thanks to Tanja who has been busy fixing tricky
bugs, Don for his work on the webserver configuration tools, Adam for
his DVB streamer, Richard for his ivtv xine tv plug-in, Krasimir for
the Audio and Video podcast plug-ins, John for his Geebox skin, Gorka
and Frank, Pascal, Tanja, Lónyai, Razvan and Michel for their
translations, hope I've not left any one out of this long list and if I
have then I'm sorry that I've done so.

Following the links on the ChangeLog wiki page
http://doc.freevo.org/ChangeLog gives all the information, somehow I
suspect that the change log may be missing a couple of items but
hopefully not too many.

Thanks too to everyone helping out be testing, answering questions on
the lists and updates to the wiki.

Hope you all enjoy this release
Duncan

First... thanks for all good work! The new plugins are very nice. But,
I´m having a little trouble getting the itv plugin to work. The
documentation need a few corrections, like plugin.activate('itv') not
'iTV'. I was able to load the plugin and browse the options, but when
I try to play a item freevo says that No player for this item found'.
What I have to do? btw, I´m using the SVN version.
