Re: [Freevo-users] Advice on new hardware

 Hi,

I'm thinking of upgrading my system. Does anyone have any opinions on
 either of these two boards:

 Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS4
 ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP

The ASUS has built in wifi and some audio noise filter for high quality
audio. The gigabyte is meant to be a good overclocker. I'm probably
going to go with an Intel Q6600, any opinions on that as a good choice
 for a video encoding processor?

Also does anyone use maudio or other sound cards over the on board sound
and if so what would you recommend?

 Thanks,

 John

In 1.7.x it is in /var/lib/freevo/record_schedule.xml

Hi,
I just upgrade my main freevo box to the last svn version (r10818),
and after that the headlines stoped to work. All i have in the logs is
something like ERROR: could not open
 http://rss.slashdot.org/Slashdot/slashdot;. I had a few problems to

is that his is more python related than freevo, but who knows...

 - From which version did you upgrade from?

From 1.8.0. But I did a fresh install, only the config file was re-used.

AFAICT it got broken in a patch that was sent just before 1.8.1 but I've
not had a chance to see what the cause is.

I did a very poor printf style debug, and found the offending part
as the line:

description = doc.entries[count].content[0].value.encode(doc.encoding)

of freevo/plugins/headlines.py file. I didnt had the time (perhaps nor
skills) to go any further.

Hate to ask the obvious, but what are the permissions on the files? If
running it as a user produces permission errors but running it as root
doesn't it seems like that would be the cause
