I did a very poor printf style debug, and found the offending part as the line: description = doc.entries[count].content[0].value.encode(doc.encoding) of freevo/plugins/headlines.py file. Duncan try with tv_channel and xml file some error, yesterday reinstall debian etch and instal freevo 1.8.0 and kaa 0.4 and all is ok, only problem with mpeg2 file from ivtv but is fix on svn... but not upgrade kaa thanks p.
