Ok, looks like I didn't wait long enough for the drive name to appear, it
 works fine.
However, I would still like to know if better VLC support is coming, If I
set VLC to be the preferred player, It works, but I don't get any pause or
OSD, do  I need kaa.display for this?
 mplayer works fine without kaa.display.
(By the way how do I install kaa.display? It is not in the repositories for
ArchLinux, do I have to get it from SVN? If so how do I set it up.)
I am using VLC for TV viewing as it gives me much better results, and pause
via the remote does not work on mplayer with livepause. I would like to use
VLC for DVD playback, but it seems I can't just have it for DVD's but have
to have it as the default video player ..
Hope someone can shed some light on this issue ..
 Thanks,
 Bernie
Basicly, VLC is not as well integrated in to freevo as either Mplayer
or Xine. Personally I find that XIne is the better DVD player and
Mplayer has the best video format support and TVTime, while it does
not have livepause yet, is teh best for watching TV. That is just me I
run a Slackware box.

As for Kass.display, I don't see it being much help for you with VLC,
it does not have vlc support yet to my knowledge. The kaa.display
support for mplayer is progressing but at the moment is not very good.

Hi,

* Evan Hisey ehi...@gmail.com [15.09.2009]:

You appear to be missing a loarge chunk of TV specific settings that
are need for any of the TV stuff to work. try setting the following:
 TV_SETTINGS ='ntsc television us-cable /dev/video0'
TV_DRIVER = 'v4l' Sometimes TV apps gets cranky with v4l2, but
that is getting fixed in the apps.

I added these missing settings but the problem remains unchangend.

Re: [Freevo-users] can't get pvr150/ivtv to work

2009-09-16 Thread Stephan Mueller
Hi,

* Peter Colton mailing-l...@colton.me.uk [15.09.2009]:

Check out the link below for a thread on the topic:

xine tv - problem with liverecord and channel change
 http://www.mail-archive.com/freevo-users@lists.sourceforge.net/msg19088.html

All so have a look at the Requirements for tv.ivtv_xine_tv

 freevo plugins -i tv.ivtv_xine_tv

 Requirements:
 =

The following software must be installed:

 - ivtv driver (for e.g. Haupage x50 series TV card)
   version ivtv: = 0.10.6

 - xine media player (built with xvmc / xxmc if available)
   version xine-lib: = 1.1.9
   version xine-ui: = 0.99.6

This is kernel 2.6.26 in debian lenny. If the list at
http://dl.ivtvdriver.org/ivtv/ is correct, this should mean that the
ivtv driver version is okay.

Or from: dpkg -l | grep xine

 ii xine-ui 0.99.5+cvs20070914-2.1~lenny2

I am running debian lenny and all I could get from the plugin:
 tv.ivtv_xine_tv

Was a blank screen. I think the issue is with the version thats on Debian
 lenny not being xine-ui: = 0.99.6??

yes, same problem here.

So I moved back to: tv.mplayer

yes, this is an option, but the main reason for buying the pvr150 was to
get live pause. So I really need to use xine I guess. My previous setup
with an older version of freevo used mplayer and worked great. I hope I
get this fixed.

So I will first try an update to squeeze (also contains now freevo 1.9)
and see how things look there and if that doesn't help try to compile a
more recent version of xine.

Or is there a way to get livepause with the pvr150 and mplayer?

Cheers,

Steph.

[Freevo-users] video.xine.py issues

2009-09-16 Thread Bernard Mentink
Hi All,
I am trying to use xine for all media, including TV and DVD.

Xine works great for livepause TV, it pauses and seeks just fine. However
DVD playback and TV recording playback
which I guess uses video.xine.py plugin does not pause or seek, it doesn't
seem to respond to any events except play/stop.

Does anyone have a better video.xine.py that has these events implemented.
Is there maybe a tv.xine.py or other plugin
that has events that do work ... and then can I simply modify that file to
add the extra event support?

I have been browsing the plugin directory and notice as well as *.py files
there are also *.pyc files, what are these files?

Many thanks,
Bernie

[Freevo-users] How to setup freevo with pvr150, mplayer and live pause

Hi,

I am looking for a way to setup freevo with a pvr150 and mplayer and
have the live pause feature. Up to now I thought live pause would
require xine with this tv card but in the thread can't get pvr150/ivtv

How can this be done? Which live pause plugin should I use?

Any hints welcome... :)

pyc files are compiled python files (.py). They are generated more or
