I'm using an NVIDIA FX-5200 AGP with a heatsink (fanless).
This card has a DVI out. I drive my Sharp 42" 1080p monitor using a DVI to
HDMI cable.
It took me a while to get the correct X configuration to work, but I found the
proper one for 1080p.
I'm using the NVIDIA binary driver from NVIDIA.
I can play all ATSC 1920x1080 content on my 2.4 Ghz P4 without hyper-threading.
Using Xine with xvmc, this card works fine and consumes 40% of the CPU.
Using mplayer with xvmc, this card fails to work as it consumes 100% of the CPU.
I think there is still some issue with mplayer and the NVIDIA binary driver.
XVMC is a must for the NVIDIA.
This card cost me $35.

I record ATSC off the air using an HD-5500.

Hi there,

A little off topic but I´m looking for video card that can do HDTV. I
think I need something that can do 1920x1080 on dvi output right?
Since my machine doesnt have pci-e, the card needs to be AGP. There´s
a lot of geforce based cards that claim to do 2048x1536, but it seems
that they only do that on analog output. What´s the cheapest model
that I can get that do HDTV? what about the radeons?
