1. what do they have? if they are not in the default video extensions list they won't
show up. You can append new extensions in local_conf.py

2. there is a detach music bar. but some tasks are not easily done together since we
don't do any real audio mixing. (so no play games and listen to music etc). But as
long as the two items don't conflict for resources they can be done at the same time.

4. look at the command plugin. It can be pointed at a dir with shell scripts to run.
also in 1.5.0 you can use fxd files to run X clients if your configuration is x based.
(in other words run mozilla, evolution or some other app). There is also a plugin that
can be used to run programs from icons in the main menu.

[Freevo-users] Freevo questions.

2004-08-31 Thread Peace Monk
I now have a working installation of freevo with directfb (G400). I
was hoping to find if freevo can be easily configured to meet my
following needs.

1. Watch VDR recordings without having to convert them to mpeg files?
I know I can play it on mplayer, but freevo does not show these files
when I browse to the location where my vdr files are located.

2. Play music, and watch pictures, or do other tasks at the same time.

3. Manually create a play list via freevo. Add other songs to the
play list while the playlist is being played.

4. Add menu item to run some shell scripts. I use wireless lan, and
sometimes I need to restart my wlan device, or refresh dhcp. So,
basically need an option to invoke that shell program by clicking on a
custom menu item.

5. Currently, when I view pictures, they look a bit grainy and dull,
is there something I can do to make them more colorful and clean?

Thanks,
Monk.

[Freevo-users] Freevo questions.

2004-06-29 Thread Jon Morris
I finally got my linux system setup and freevo all installed. Now I have a few issues
I can't seem to find answers to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am running Fedora Core 2, freevo 1.5 rc3. My hardware is an Athlon XP 1700, 256mb
RAM, NVidia GeForce4 MX 440, Pinnacle TV Pro, and a built in audio card.

1. I have XMLTV grabbing the listing properly, from the Freevo TV Main Menu I select
"TV Guide". From there I select the show that is currently on that I want to watch.
The screen goes blank briefly and then returns to the TV listings. Occasionally the
show will start, but not too often.

2. I tried to do a recording. I start the record server prior to starting freevo with
the command ./freevo recordserver. I setup the show to record, and when the show was
over, I had a file in the record directory with an extension of .fxd. The file was
only about 500 bytes.

3. I have no sound. Sound does work from X when playing music files. How do I know
what the device is for my sound card?

Thanks in advance,
Jon

It's about VCD quality.

1gb per hour.

mp1e/mpeg1

Hauppauge WinTV-DBX... I just bought a OEM Hauppauge WinTV PVR though.

On the fly.

Maybe... I haven't tried. I'll see what happens when I put both
capture cards in.

The card should be here either at the end of this week or early next,
we'll see what happens... running two TV's off it means two TV out
cards, and two instances of Freevo though. I don't know how that would
work.

Hi Dan,

Quite good, actually.

Hrm I cannot recall offhand, but I use MEncoder with
the Freevo "Standard" high quality (1500Mbps??), which
records at 320x240; a one-hour reording is just over
600MB.

Divx

ATI VE Wonder

70-80%, on an EPIA 800MHz.

On the fly (for TV shows that I record, and likely
will not keep)

I don't have the computer resources as yet, but I know
of at least one person who is.

Not that I know of, but I am sure it's possible.

I hope this helps.

[Freevo-users] Freevo questions

2003-06-30 Thread dshepard
I have a few questions for people who are using freevo to record:

what kind of image quality are you getting(at what compression)?

what kind of compression ratio are you acheiving(at what quality)?

what compression codex are you using?

what capture cards are you using?

what sort of cpu usage are you seeing while recording?

do you encode on the fly or off line?

is anyone able to record two simultanious streams?

does anyone have a multi headed freevo box, allowing you to watch
different channels on different tvs, and maybe even recording a 3rd
program at the same time?

basically i'm looking at building a entertainment server and running 2
tv's off of it. and i'm wondering if it is possible.
