I don't have a 'remote' either, and use a large 104 key wireless remote sold
as 'keyboard'
Favourites are indeed automatically recorded shows
Freevo does look for them in the tvguide too and keeps on recording them
week-by-week (or day-by-day)
to select a show as a favourite you need your tv cards set up, your
recordserver running
you look at the main screen
you highlight the TV menu with the arrow keys
press enter
TVguide (top entry) is highlighted
press enter
select suitable program for test record
press E
another menu appears
choose favourite here
check the answers on the next screens
and make sure you arrow-key all the way down and SAVE
