Hi,
I've uploaded RPMs of Freevo 1.6.3 and 1.7.0 for Fedora Core 5
to the Freevo website on SourceForge. They can be accessed using yum.
Freevo 1.6.3 is a bugfix release, which depends on mmpython.
'yum upgrade freevo' should upgrade the freevo 1.6.x packages to this
latest release. Please remember to reenable the recordserver and
webserver in your init sequence (e.g., using ntsysv) as they'll be
disabled after the upgrade.
Freevo 1.7.0 is a new release branch and may not be as stable as 1.6.3.
In addition, it uses python-kaa-metadata, which is incompatible with
mmpython.
In order to prevent accidental upgrading of Freevo to the 1.7 release,
I've named the Freevo 1.7.0 release freevo17-*.rpm. This means that to
upgrade to 1.7.0 you will have to do an explicit
'yum install freevo17*'. (I think it should be install not upgrade?)
The packages that will be installed are the following:

freevo17-boot-1.7.0-1.fc5.noarch.rpm
python-kaa-base-0.1.2-1.fc5.i386.rpm
python-kaa-imlib2-0.2.0-1.fc5.i386.rpm
python-kaa-metadata-0.6.0-1.fc5.i386.rpm
[Metadata packages]
freevo17-core-suite-1.7-1.freevo.noarch.rpm
freevo17-recording-suite-1.7-1.freevo.noarch.rpm
The metadata packages are optional. They're used to ensure that
necessary dependencies for freevo are also installed. There are no files
in the metadata packages.
When you install freevo17-*, it will replace all freevo 1.6 and earlier
packages, including mmpython.
Downgrading can only be done by first uninstalling all freevo17-* packages.
