Hi, I guess I should have mention this at that first time but... I'm using directfb 0.9.18 and didn't even had earlier versions installed. mplayer is cvs version that should include patches needed. I couldn't get 0.90 to work. I have read Matrox directfb howto carefully and changed some email with the author but I haven't been able to use freevo on directfb with normal user rights.
