I just said that I'm using /dev/cdrom to mount my DVD drive to avoid somebody asking me if I really had a DVD-drive. Somebody could think of a plain old CD-ROM drive when talking about /dev/cdrom :) But nevertheless, when I insert a DVD while in freevo, it (freevo) mounts it automatically but it doesn't begin to play. I just see the video_ts and audio_ts folders and if I 'click' on something within the video_ts folder, the screen just gets black for a second and then I'm back into freevo. And if I set mplayer to play vob files, the screen gets black until I press ESC and I'm back into freevo again. I think there is a problem with xine, but no errors are displayed in the freevo log and under 'real' x11 it is working fine. Dan - Take Surveys. Earn Cash. Normally freevo plays the dvd as soon as it has been inserted into the drive. In local_config.py you need something like: ROM_DRIVES = [ ('/mnt/dvd', '/dev/dvd', 'DVD') ] ROM_SPEED = 8 There should be a DVD Drive menu item in the "Watch a Movie" menu. [Freevo-users] Some questions about freevo feautures
Hi I've now setup my freevo box and quite everything is working too. But there are some things I really miss within freevo, therefore I want to ask if these things are already in freevo (and I just don't know how to use them) or if freevo is really lacking these feautures and how I could possibly add them. * My remote has a power button, which I managed to get to work in all menus, but if I watch a movie or TV it doesn't work. So is it possible to set it up to work too while watching a movie / TV ? * How can I play a DVD in freevo ? I can browse to the video_ts folder on the dvd and open the vob files, but isn't it possible to just hit a button somewhere and the DVD starts playing (including DVD menu) ? * Is it possible to stream the TV to my local network? I would like to stream the TV to my workstation while I'm not in front of my freevo box and have a remote control (like the one found on the freevo webserver) to switch channels. * While watching a movie or TV, I would love to have an osd showing me for example the volume when I change it. Shouldn't this work with tiny_osd or tiny_xosd ? For music / radio, it works. * Is it possible to jump directly to the RADIO / TV GUIDE menu ? This is everything for the moment :) Thx in advance for all your answers Dan. - Take Surveys. Earn Cash. [Freevo-users] Some questions about DVB-cards and Freevo HT setup
Hi, I'm currently planning my new Home Theatre setup and I've been considering to build the whole system run on Freevo. There's still couple of questions need to be answered before I can make the decision what hardware to buy. I have satellite at home with Canal Digital channel package and I also wan't to use digital television instead of analog. Currently this problem is solved using combo satellite and digital television receiver provided by Canal Digital. So, is it possible to use both DVB-T and DVB-S cards with Freevo on the same time or is there any DVB-T/DVB-S "combo" cards which could be used with Freevo? For DVB-S card I've been considering this budget card of Twinhan's (TwinhanDTV Sat-CI) and for DVB-T some of Hauppauge's cards. I'll second that. Matrox G400 is gorgeous. DirectFB will let emulators output to the TV, too. It's sweet. Re: [Freevo-users] Some questions
Hi, Yep, freevo does support directfb and that was main reason I use it on G400. Picture is excellent. I have tested Nvidia GeForce 440MX+TV-out and Radeon 9600Pro +TV-out and Matrox + directfb is the best. The only thinggy left for me is to make xmame.SDL work with directfb. I bought remote joypad and for now i had little success. -- Ivan Pantovic Peace Monk wrote: Hi Guys, I am currently using VDR for scheduling and watching DVB programs. Re: [Freevo-users] Some questions
With the possible exception of a hauppauge pvr-350 a G400 on directfb is as good as your going to get for TV-out. Things are drawn at 720x480 (NTSC, its something else for PAL), which is the native resoltution ... rather than scaled for TV like most TV-outs. Also the quality of the TV-out components themselves is aparently better. Xine doesn't have a stable working directfb output - so you're limited to MPlayer which means no DVD menus ... other than that I love it. - Chris On 19 Aug 2004 01:43:11 -, "Peace Monk" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> said: > Hi Guys, I am currently using VDR for scheduling and watching DVB > programs. Hi Guys, I am currently using VDR for scheduling and watching DVB programs. Is a great software, but lacks eyecandy and other media features. I was wondering if there is anyway to integrate freevo with VDR. i.e, I would use freeevo to browse through channels, and schedule recordings, to VDR.
