Re: [Freevo-users] hwac3 (sb live pass through) option auto detection or switch/falling back during playback possible ?
Thanks for the fast answer and simple solution (it works fine). This would help others too I think. Just a little char can make such a difference ;-) On Wednesday 26 November 2003 17:02, Youri van Gorselen wrote: > I had to use mplayer -ac hwac3,mad, blablabla to get audio from non ac3 > tracks. > > Using a Sblive 5.1 with digital i/o from creative but that doesn;t make a > difference as far as i know. > > - Original Message - > From: "Aubin Paul" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Wednesday, November 26, 2003 2:51 PM > Subject: Re: [Freevo-users] hwac3 (sb live pass through) option auto > detection or switch/falling back during playback possible ? > > > Add a comma after the hwac3 to fall back... > > > > i.e. > > > > mplayer -ac hwac3, > > > > On Wed, Nov 26, 2003 at 02:41:22PM +0100, Thomas Kranz wrote: > > > Hello freevo fans, > > > > > > my problem: > > > I've spent my sb live an Hoontech I/O III extension with optical > > digital out. > > > > Passing through with mplayer to my ac3 receiver > > > and the -ac hwac3 options works fine, if the audio stream of the movie > > is an ac3 track. > > > > But if I enable the options permanently in local_conf.py, I get no > > > sound from avi movies with non ac3 tracks (eg. lame mp3 encoded ones). > > > So I'm wondering if there is a solution for my problem. > > > > > > My Ideas: > > > Some options should be configurable in the freevo frontend. > > > Maybe a lirc command could change the option with my remote. > > > Switching this during playback would be nice or maybe an auto detection > > by mplayer > > > > but this wouldn't be safe (I guess) - or fallback to non hwac3, when > > audio codec detection fails. > > > > Any ideas or solutions around ? > > > > > > thanks, > > > Thomas > > > > > > my system: > > > 1.7GHZ Athlon XP, Gigabyte matx board, 384MB > > > dxr3,sb live with digital IO extension, Hauppauge WinTV > > > Realmagic Remote (great one, I love this remote because it's > > > flawless, great range and very handy) > > > > > > freevo 1.4, mplayer 0.92, using the dxr3 for tv out (selfcompiled sdl > > lib). > > > > Base System: SuSE 8.0, Kernel 2.4.22 with acpi patches > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > --- > > > This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program. > > > Does SourceForge.net help you be more productive? Re: [Freevo-users] hwac3 (sb live pass through) option auto detection or switch/falling back during playback possible ?
I had to use mplayer -ac hwac3,mad, blablabla to get audio from non ac3 tracks. Using a Sblive 5.1 with digital i/o from creative but that doesn;t make a difference as far as i know. - Original Message - From: "Aubin Paul" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, November 26, 2003 2:51 PM Subject: Re: [Freevo-users] hwac3 (sb live pass through) option auto detection or switch/falling back during playback possible ? > Add a comma after the hwac3 to fall back... > > i.e. > > mplayer -ac hwac3, > > > On Wed, Nov 26, 2003 at 02:41:22PM +0100, Thomas Kranz wrote: > > Hello freevo fans, > > > > my problem: > > I've spent my sb live an Hoontech I/O III extension with optical digital out. > > Passing through with mplayer to my ac3 receiver > > and the -ac hwac3 options works fine, if the audio stream of the movie is an ac3 track. > > But if I enable the options permanently in local_conf.py, I get no sound > > from avi movies with non ac3 tracks (eg. lame mp3 encoded ones). > > So I'm wondering if there is a solution for my problem. > > > > My Ideas: > > Some options should be configurable in the freevo frontend. > > Maybe a lirc command could change the option with my remote. > > Switching this during playback would be nice or maybe an auto detection by mplayer > > but this wouldn't be safe (I guess) - or fallback to non hwac3, when audio codec detection fails. > > > > Any ideas or solutions around ? > > > > thanks, > > Thomas > > > > my system: > > 1.7GHZ Athlon XP, Gigabyte matx board, 384MB > > dxr3,sb live with digital IO extension, Hauppauge WinTV > > Realmagic Remote (great one, I love this remote because it's > > flawless, great range and very handy) > > > > freevo 1.4, mplayer 0.92, using the dxr3 for tv out (selfcompiled sdl lib). > > Base System: SuSE 8.0, Kernel 2.4.22 with acpi patches > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > --- > > This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program. > > Does SourceForge.net help you be more productive? Re: [Freevo-users] hwac3 (sb live pass through) option auto detection or switch/falling back during playback possible ?
Add a comma after the hwac3 to fall back... i.e. mplayer -ac hwac3, On Wed, Nov 26, 2003 at 02:41:22PM +0100, Thomas Kranz wrote: > Hello freevo fans, > > my problem: > I've spent my sb live an Hoontech I/O III extension with optical digital out. > Passing through with mplayer to my ac3 receiver > and the -ac hwac3 options works fine, if the audio stream of the movie is an ac3 > track. > But if I enable the options permanently in local_conf.py, I get no sound > from avi movies with non ac3 tracks (eg. lame mp3 encoded ones). > So I'm wondering if there is a solution for my problem. > > My Ideas: > Some options should be configurable in the freevo frontend. > Maybe a lirc command could change the option with my remote. > Switching this during playback would be nice or maybe an auto detection by mplayer > but this wouldn't be safe (I guess) - or fallback to non hwac3, when audio codec > detection fails. > > Any ideas or solutions around ? > > thanks, > Thomas > > my system: > 1.7GHZ Athlon XP, Gigabyte matx board, 384MB > dxr3,sb live with digital IO extension, Hauppauge WinTV > Realmagic Remote (great one, I love this remote because it's > flawless, great range and very handy) > > freevo 1.4, mplayer 0.92, using the dxr3 for tv out (selfcompiled sdl lib). > Base System: SuSE 8.0, Kernel 2.4.22 with acpi patches > > > > > > > > --- > This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program. > Does SourceForge.net help you be more productive? [Freevo-users] hwac3 (sb live pass through) option auto detection or switch/falling back during playback possible ?
Hello freevo fans, my problem: I've spent my sb live an Hoontech I/O III extension with optical digital out. Passing through with mplayer to my ac3 receiver and the -ac hwac3 options works fine, if the audio stream of the movie is an ac3 track. But if I enable the options permanently in local_conf.py, I get no sound from avi movies with non ac3 tracks (eg. lame mp3 encoded ones). So I'm wondering if there is a solution for my problem. My Ideas: Some options should be configurable in the freevo frontend. Maybe a lirc command could change the option with my remote. Switching this during playback would be nice or maybe an auto detection by mplayer but this wouldn't be safe (I guess) - or fallback to non hwac3, when audio codec detection fails. Any ideas or solutions around ? thanks, Thomas my system: 1.7GHZ Athlon XP, Gigabyte matx board, 384MB dxr3,sb live with digital IO extension, Hauppauge WinTV Realmagic Remote (great one, I love this remote because it's flawless, great range and very handy) freevo 1.4, mplayer 0.92, using the dxr3 for tv out (selfcompiled sdl lib).
