I'm not completely sure since I don't have access to my v4l-box right
now, but try putting:

Load v4l

inside Section Module
in your XF86Config

RE: [Freevo-users] ATI All In Wonder Radeon

2003-10-06 Thread Gray, Tim
TV wonder VE does NOT need any ATI drivers.

it is a standard Bt878 card and only need the BT878 drivers from the kernel
installed and running.

in fact I have found that the TV wonder VE is the most reliable to get
working under linux ( compared to the 6000 different brands of BT878) but
there is one problem with the VE...

it must be patched to the soundcard. i still cant get the bt audio to work
with the device...

Hi Josh,

I too am having problems getting the capture working, but on an ATI TV
Wonder VE.

I have installed ati_remote and ati.2 drivers successfully, but can get
neither KM nor DRM nor avview to compile.

Xawtv -- I forced an install of this guy, but it keeps crashing with a
segmentation fault

Mplayer -- tried launching mplayer -tv form=NTSC tv:// or variations
thereof and all I get are green screens.

BTTV -- doesn't like me. I get unresolved symbols errors

Josh -- can you send me your adjusted KM kernel thingy?

Also, can anyone help PLEASE? I am fairly close to pulling my hair out

Thanks, Per.

I'm throwing in the towel with ATI and going with a 2 card solution just

I was also thinking about revisiting these problem with GATOS later.

I'd be interested in helping (test/devel) a freevo plugin for ATI

Cool I guess we are at least 3 interested in this then!

Unfortunately the timing for me is bad right now as I'm going on
vacation for 2 weeks tomorrow :-)

Also I must admit that after my vacation my highest Freevo related
priority is setting up remote control either using Bluetooth via a
cellphone or using some home made hardware. But after that I'm
interested in getting TV capture running. So maybe we can work on this
together then.

Bye for now

I have TV out working using the stock 4.3.0 version of XFree86 on a
Redhat 9 based system. As I recall it I followed the

  http://freevo.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/Radeon7000Page
  and set it
up the easy way basically using the vesa driver - not the ati or

But I guess what you _really_ want to do is to use it for

Because Freevo's TV capturing capabilities rely on external programs
like either mplayer or tvtime for tv viewing it's more a
  question if we
can get one of the external programs to work with the AIW Radeon card.

  http://tvtime.sourceforge.net/hardware.html#aiw suggest that
  there could
be problems doing that and I saw a similar note somewhere on
  the mplayer

  could help
each other out and do something about it. I think there are a
  couple of
  options here:

  1. Sort out the possible problems with the GATOS drivers that are
mentioned on the tvtime page referred above to make it work
  with either
  tvtime or mplayer.

  2. We could replace the mplayer/tvtime plugins in Freevo with
  something
that works for the AIW Radeon like AVview from the Gatos project.

  3. Maybe someone has another even better idea... :-)

BTW searching the http://gatos.sf.net project pages *just

  Any thoughts?
