RE: Solution: [Freevo-users] PVR350 / Fedora Core 1 / Framebuffer
Yes, it was totally strange. I was even hacking the mplayer.py plugin using os.system to try and run the ivtvfbctl but to no avail. Changing the Mplayer and Xine VO_DEV from ivtv or ivtvdev or fb or fbdev to... xfb caused Mplayer to show the video on screen in full screen mode. Mplayer was a bit flaky, so I changed to Xine using the same XFB VO device and it works! Perfectly! I'll archive up my configs tonight and send them your way mate. I'm at work at the moment, and I cannot SSH to my house for some reason. My broadband must be down? Solution: [Freevo-users] PVR350 / Fedora Core 1 / Framebuffer
All, I was fiddling around with my setup and managed to solve this problem. Not sure if you can recreate it, but heres what I have/did... Freevo 1.5.3 on Fedora Core 1 Hauppauge PVR-350 via IVTV Drivers Basically, videos were playing (i.e. hear sound and Freevo appeared after movie had finished), except no video. If I used the "IVTVFBCTL" command to change the Alpha settings manually in Bash, I could see the video, but I couldn't get Freevo to do this automatically. Heres how I solved it... 1) Switched from MPlayer to Xine as the quality was better 2) Set Xines VO_DEV options to "xfb" (XFrameBuffer) and then it all works perfectly... not even any sound delays! Louis From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Louis KingSent: 21 March 2005 12:30To: freevo-users@lists.sourceforge.netSubject: [Freevo-users] PVR350 / Fedora Core 1 / Framebuffer Hello, I'm currently using a Hauppauge PVR350 on Fedora Core 1. I am using Freevo 1.5.3 and have managed to get most things I require working... i.e. X on Framebuffer, Audio, Web Radio etc. My problem lies when trying to watch live TV or watch a video. It is neccesary to use "ivtvfbctl --nolocalalpha --globalalpha" or "ivtvfbctl --localalpha --noglobalalpha" to switch between X and MPlayer's Framebuffer output. Now, there are config settings...OSD_SDL_EXEC_AFTER_STARTUP = ""OSD_SDL_EXEC_AFTER_CLOSE = "" I've created Bash scripts to run the relevant "ivtvfbctl" command, but nothing seems to happen. When I select a Video item or TV, the Freevo interface closes and leaves me with my X desktop, but the Movie does not appear. However, the video is playing as the Freevo interfaces remains hidden for the exact duration of the video and then reappears. Also, if I manually type the "ivtvfbctl" commands into a terminal, I can get the video to appear. Now, apart from this one complication, I have impressed my housemates and other friends and colleagues with Freevo as it is such an excellent product. I've used my Freevo project as an introduction to Linux. Please can anyone help?Cheers,Louis KingFreemote Developerhttp://freemote.sf.net[EMAIL PROTECTED] ipFour Internet Security Policy--- This email message is intended only for the addressee(s) and contains information that may be confidential and/or copyright.
