Agreed.  Also texts with explanatory photos and/or illustrations which
you want to see full-sized.  But relatively little of my reading is in
that category.

I rather hate to admit it, but a good part of my preference for electronic
versions of information these days is highly related to my lack of good
reading glasses, which is in turn related to my laziness when it comes to
getting out to buy some. Here in EC, I can't just go to the drug store to
buy cheapies,
I would have to actually go to an optometrist (5 hour round trip), get an
exam, go back a week later, and pick them up. With e-books, I can just
change to a bigger font and/or zoom. Plus, I can read in the dark.

I remember a great line from the 90s on the topic:

"you can't grep paper!"

Unfortunately I prefer physical books/paper for most circumstances and
uses.    It is *great*, however that I have at my fingertips a huge
collection of electronic documents formatted (usually) professionally,
both online and downloaded.   Riches beyond my imagination 20-30 years ago.

Frank,

Yeah, reading a pdf is also an obstacle for me. I will *read* a book but my
experience thus far has been to only use pdfs for reference.

You're lucky that you're willing to read PDFs. I want to hold the book and
my ️ isn't robust enough to put out a whole book.

Jon,

I found
https://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007%2F978-3-319-29716-3.pdf on the
Springer List.

A collection of chapters on the "evolution of disease" written for
clinicians.

Looks like it might be worth the time, if one had the time for it to be
worth.

Ha! same. I wanted a physical copy of the AIP journal a paper of mine was in,
but I am not a member of any of the physical societies so it would cost me
$722.
