gnome-tweaks 42.beta

About GNOME Tweaks
==

GNOME Tweaks allows adjusting advanced configuration settings in GNOME
3. This includes things like the fonts used in user interface
elements, alternative user interface themes, changes in window
management behavior, GNOME Shell appearance and extension, etc.

News

Beta release.

GNOME Tweaks 42 focuses on removing tweaks which are now duplicated by
Settings. Additionally, Tweaks 42 marks the GTK theme tweak as "Legacy".
In GNOME 42, the "Legacy Applications" setting will only apply to some
GTK3 apps and a limited set of GTK4 apps. Most core GNOME apps will
instead respect the user's dark and light mode preference via libadwaita.
Users interested in theming can continue to do so using more advanced
options such as the GTK_THEME environment variable.

gtk+ 3.24.33

2022-03-04 Thread Matthias Clasen
About gtk
=

GTK is a multi-platform toolkit for creating graphical user
interfaces. Offering a complete set of widgets, GTK is suitable for
projects ranging from small one-off tools to complete application
suites.

GTK has been designed from the ground up to support a range of
languages, not only C/C++. Using GTK from languages such as Perl and
Python (especially in combination with the Glade GUI builder) provides
an effective method of rapid application development.

GTK is free software and part of the GNU Project. However, the
licensing terms for GTK, the GNU LGPL, allow it to be used by all
developers, including those developing proprietary software, without
any license fees or royalties.

at-spi2-core 2.43.92

2022-03-04 Thread Mike Gorse
About at-spi2-core
==

The Access Technology Service Provider Interface (AT-SPI) is a set of
interfaces that allow access technologies such as screen readers to
programmatically determine what is being displayed on the screen and
simulate keyboard and mouse events. It can also be used for automated
testing.

The at-spi2-core module contains the D-Bus specification, the registry
daemon, and a C library for use by access technologies that provides a
convenient wrapper around the DBus interfaces.

News

* The AT-SPI bus now uses the user's XDG_RUNTIME_DIR for its socket.
Fixes accessibility for Snap-confined applications.

* Caps lock is now unlocked for key synthesis. Fixes cutting and
pasting from brltty when caps lock is on.

* Several fixes to the dbus specification.

* Fix the build when x11 is disabled.

* Fix several compiler warnings.

glib 2.71.3

2022-03-04 Thread Philip Withnall
About GLib
==

GLib is the low-level core library that forms the basis for projects
such as GTK+ and GNOME. It provides data structure handling for C,
portability wrappers, and interfaces for such runtime functionality as
an event loop, threads, dynamic loading, and an object system.

vala 0.55.91

2022-03-04 Thread Rico Tzschichholz
About vala
==

valac, the Vala compiler, is a self-hosting compiler that translates
Vala source code into C source and header files. It uses the GObject
type system to create classes and interfaces declared in the Vala
source code.

The syntax of Vala is similar to C#, modified to better fit the
GObject type system. Vala supports modern language features as the
following: Interfaces, Properties, Signals, Foreach, Lambda
expressions, Type inference for local variables, Generics, Non-null
types, Assisted memory management, Exception handling, Type modules
(Plugins)

Vala is designed to allow access to existing C libraries, especially
GObject-based libraries, without the need for runtime bindings. All
that is needed to use a library with Vala is an API file, containing
the class and method declarations in Vala syntax. Vala currently comes
with bindings for GLib and GTK+ and many others from the GNOME
Platform.

Using classes and methods written in Vala from an application written
in C is not difficult. The Vala library only has to install the
generated header files and C applications may then access the GObject-
based API of the Vala library as usual. It should also be easily
possible to write a bindings generator for access to Vala libraries
from applications written in e.g. C# as the Vala parser is written as
a library, so that all compile-time information is available when
generating a binding.
