You may want to test Core FORCE as well. It's still in early beta stage,
free under an apache 2.0 license and let's you configure firewall rules,
filesystem and registry access permissions on a per application basis.
it uses a Windows port of OpenBSD's PF as its firewall engine.

Http://www.xray-ids.com is also a nice application. its not a firewall but
a software based intrusion detection system for windows. just thought
you might be interested.

Thanks heaps for the suggestions & heads-up, guys.  I guess I'll be busy for a
bit testing the evaluation versions but I should then be better equipped to
cater for the various skill levels and requirements of my clients.
