2012-01-20 Thread Jeffrey Walton
Do they mean phishing as in sending a "vWorker.com" email from a "
exhedra.com" address?

We have been informed that a hacker is attempting to steal some
vWorker users' ids and passwords by sending out a fake email, impersonating
us. You can tell it's a fraud because it sends you to a non-vWorker site
and attempts to get you to enter your login credentials (so they can steal
them). Click here for complete information:

I agree. "If it was going to work, it would have worked by now" is only valid
if
people/corps had made a serious attempt. Most of the (heavily promoted) sec
awareness stuff that I've seen is pathetic.

(There is one exception: a guy who is running a business selling an ongoing sec
awareness series to businesses. He creates posters, games, bookmarks and other
giveaways as well as serious papers and presentations, and keeps his stuff up
to
date, and addresses new concerns on a monthly basis. He's making a go of it,
but
it's hard slogging.)

I would love to say that it could be an example of infoage Darwinism in action,
if
it weren't for the fact that all of *them* getting infected creates a problem
for
*us*.

These are the masses that some say would be much more secure in their use of
the internet if they were only more educated about the risks.

Good luck with that.
