I wasn't suggesting that we hold to it.  I was simply stating it as a fact.

Incidentally, there is an article in today's Globe and Mail on what
capitalism has done for upper middle class Americans living in Scottsdale,
Arizona, during the past ten years.  Hot tubs inside and out, 3,000 sq.ft.
houses, and SUVs all over the place.  Life is indeed good!  (Readers: please
recognize the last sentence as irony.)

Friends - can we really hold to this, after this Century's misery - and the
preceeding three Centuries' terrors (1545 onwards) - drug-saturated urban
ennui, suburban boredom and insecurity, and rural poverty.

It *is* time to move (co-operatively ?! ) on.
