Mom says, "Avoid all caps"

2001-07-20 Thread Dan Knight

Good afternoon from New York City, where the Macworld Expo is rapidly
running down. Just read something on The Register that you should all be
aware of.

1. Hotmail is marking email with ALL CAPS subjects as spam and trashing
it. Great idea -- but watch your caps lock key when posting, since some
list users are on Hotmail.

2. Hotmail now redirects URLs through Microsoft servers, which is totally
unnecessary and probably done just to inflate their hit count. :-(

We've had light Expo coverage on this week,
including our Best of Show award to a couple new upgrades from Sonnet.
I'm looking forward to getting home Sunday afternoon.

Re: Syncing a Visor with a Pismo

2001-07-20 Thread Geoffrey Parker

Mike,

As it happens I just started doing this yesterday after
learning of a new site (http://www.palmonmac.com) which has a
detailed post with instructions. It is NOT fast but it does work
pretty well on my Wallstreet II.

Airport OS X

2001-07-20 Thread Richie

All of a sudden Airport has quit working under OS X. I'm running a WaveLAN
card on a Lombard and an SMC wireless router. It still works with OS 9.1 so
it is not hardware. The card still shows up in the network but something is
blocking the card from working.

ibook-firewire ram question

2001-07-20 Thread Jaegan

Is it possible to get 512 mb dimms for the 2nd generation iBook (firewire) ?
dealram.com has several choices listed, but from the descriptions,
I'm not convinced that everything they have listed would work. Am I
correct in thinking the iBook uses the "low-profile" SO-DIMM?

Thanks in advance,

A very handy control strip module is HotSyncCSM. It allows you to turn
HotSync on or off as needed from the control strip. I use it with my Visor
Deluxe and iBook/iMac and have always gotten great results. You can find it
here http://mac.tucows.com/preview/7864.html
