But if you have bad RAM it doesn't matter whether it's from Infinite
Loop or from Joe's Deluxe Mac Shoppe.

Best thing to do is to remove the recently added ram and see if you
can duplicate the symptoms. If you can't then it's more than like
the RAM stick and you should return it for replacement.

I think the RAM chips are OK. At different times I had the 64MB and
the 128MB in the top slot with Apple's original 32MB in the bottom
with no problems. I then pulled this and put the 64MB in the bottom.
Perhaps I'll reseat things.

I'd like to know as well. On my Wallstreet, I have to launch the System
Prefs at least once in order to get the brightness button working, but
that doesn't work with the sound volume.

The brightness keys can be enabled by launching DisplayServices.app,
 which
is is /System/Library/Displays. I've added this to my login items.

The volume keys, though, have me stumped.

Thanks for the tip!

Legally Blonde Mac sighting

2001-07-27 Thread Roger Cullman

File this one under Mac sightings:
I just saw the movie Legally Blonde. There's a funny scene in it
where the blonde's classmates at Harvard Law school all sit with
their notebook computers, taking notes and the blonde pulls out a
heart-shaped note pad and her pen with a pink feather on it. Then
she comes back the next day, ready to get down to businessÂ… with a
Tangerine iBook! :o)

Re: Newer FireWire card in a Lombard

2001-07-27 Thread Tim Harger

Can anyone confirm that the Newer FireWire PC card works under OS X
in a Lombard? The MacAlly USB/FW card in my beige G3 works using
Apple drivers in both OS 9.1 and OS X. Thanks.

Works for me just fine. I have OS X and a Lombard, and the
FireWire2Go card. Everything's hunky dory - except for the fact that
I still don't like X.

Believe it or not, iMovie does transitions and the such faster under OS
X than 9.1. With the big update do in September hopefully it will be
faster.
