key command for opening the CD ROM drive on a pb Lombard?

(1) No CD in drive:
push the little button on the drive (middle of tray).

(2) CD in drive:
drag icon of CD to trash to eject disk open drive.

Running OS X? You have the additional option of opening the CD-ROM with F12.

Eric.

Or use command-Y, or command-E

Re: shutdown impossible

2002-05-18 Thread Kathryn Odell

Thanks for the input!

My daughter's imac is suddenly refusing to shut down. It will restart,
however. Would the system need to be reinstalled? Also, I've lost Sherlock
on my powerbook; otherwise everything is fine. Can I just add that without
 redoing the system software?
 Thanks,
 Kate

That would be my thought. You can also install just Sherlock by doing
a custom install, and select just sherlock.

Re: shutdown impossible

2002-05-18 Thread EM

If the iMac is a 400 DV SE then the problem is common in conjunction with a
specific firmware update, and generally attrituted to corruption of the to
the Power Manager Unit, which can be reset/replaced, but the problem may
persist (as it does on my iMac) .

Do the date and time get mixed up?

Whichever iMac model this is, try Zapping the PRAM nonetheless (Restart in
Classic holding down Command+Option+P+R).

Good Luck,
Etienne
