Samsung MF Printers SCX4216

2005-08-28 Thread Chris Zantides

G'day,

I have the above printer connected via USB to my ibook - working well.

However, when I try to use image capture to scan an image, it does
not recognize that it has a scanner connected - has anyone
experienced something similar? Am I just out of luck?

Thanks,
hris

Zoltan,

This has just happened to me in the last week. Now when I come home

Zoltan,

In the last couple of days this has come back on for me.

The only change I am sure of is that I quit Macaroni (I had recently
downloaded this and am running on its trial mode). Shortly after this
I started connecting automatically again. I then started Macaroni up
again but this time no change, auto-connect is still working. So I
don't know if this had any bearing on the problem or that the timing
was just coincidental.

Any luck on your end? I'm glad to have auto-connect back but still
curious as to what the problem was.

Let me know how you are doing.

Dan,

WELL NOW. . . this is strange. It's working for me as well! What did
I do? Absolutely nothing other than change it back to "automatic"
after reading your last post to see if mine would work! I wonder if
this was a timed thing in Airport. . . at this point I guess anything's
possible. I'll keep you and the list posted in case it stops working
again. THANKS! :)

There are several vendors which are currently selling 256 MB SODIMMs

OWC has them:

The issue here is the Wallstreet and Lombard DRAM controller is
compatible with "single bank" (not necessarily single side) SODIMMs

both single and two bank, and single and two side SODIMMs and with low

Installation of two bank and/or high density SODIMMs on a Wallstreet or

capacity, regardless of what the EPROM on the SODIMM says.

Well, an application that is opened but won't bring its own menus in the
menu bar when clicking one of its window usually means that the application
is not responding, whether it is stuck somewhere in its own code or waiting
for something from the computer, network, hard drive or external devices.
That is certainly not normal.

Is it happening in different applications, after 20-30 minutes or does it
start happening always in the same application?

Do you have any application that launches at startup, in the "Login Items"
of your account?

Any external FireWire or USB device connected?

Anything that you did install or purchased shortly before you started having
this problem?

Blue Screen of Death n.: [common] This term is closely related to the older
Black Screen of Death but much more common (many non-hackers have picked it
up). Due to the extreme fragility and bugginess of Microsoft Windows,
misbehaving applications can readily crash the OS (and the OS sometimes
crashes itself spontaneously). The Blue Screen of Death, sometimes decorated
with hex error codes, is what you get when this happens. (Commonly
abbreviated BSOD.)

I have better signal strength with my new PowerBook (about a month old) than
with the three year old Ti PowerBook, but I don't believe it's due to the OS
(new one is Tiger, old one is 10.3.9 Panther). But even the new one is not as
long range as was my Wall Street with the Orinoco Gold PC card. But I imagine
it all has to do with antenna placement and the material of which the housing
is constructed. The Wall Street with the wireless PC card had the strip line
antenna external to everything, and both newer PowerBook's are trying to
broadcast from a metal shell. I don't see how a change in OS could make any
substantial difference in performance. In the case of wireless the hardware is
going to be the overwhelming first order determinant of performance.

Confused PB

2005-08-28 Thread Amber
I have been having some difficulty with my 15" Al PB lately (1.25
ghz, 512 MB RAM).
It seems to get confused if I have more than two apps open and even
though the current app is highlighted via the red, green, yellow
"lights" , the menu bar for a completely different program is on the
top of the screen. No matter what I do, it will not convert to the
menu bar for the active application.

This will not happen immediately - usually about 20-30 minutes or so
after I have had any of these multiple applications - usually Mail,
Safari, Word, iPhoto and Photoshop open at the same time.

I will restart and the same problem occurs again and again unless I
have only one app open.

Any suggestions on how to deal with this or what could be wrong.

Amber
