Three Beeps

According to the G3 PowerBook (FireWire) Service Manual: 1 beep: No RAM installed or detected. 2 beeps: EDO memory is installed. The PowerBook (FireWire) ships with SDRAM SO-DIMMs and does not accept EDO memory. 3 beeps: No RAM banks passed memory testing. 4 beeps: Bad checksum for the remainder of the boot ROM. Wallstreet batteries
I've got a battery that doesn't show up when inserted. I assume it's dead. It's the only battery I have for this wallstreet. It's been stored for several years, was fine before that. Is there any utility that might get the computer to try charging it? I'm just wondering if maybe the charge has dropped so low that the computer doesn't recognise it, but perhaps if given some juice it may still have a little life in it. There used to be a little utility from Apple called, I believe, BatteryReset, which would just reset the little chip on the battery so that the battery would communicate with the Wallstreet that it's OK to charge.
