multimedia on Al Book again
Hi all; I have a 1.08hr mp3 file that I'd like to split into tracks. It's a live recording I made locally. So, the thing about multimedia is- anything you do with it takes time :) and I'm short on that! I have Audacity, and I can extract pieces to individual mp3 files, but that will take a while. Is there a better way? I have Toast 5.2.3, nothing newer, would a newer Toast or Soundjam let me take the whole hour-long track, and insert breaks at certain timepoints? Thanks for thoughts. Re: Wireless network problem - help!
Whatever the problem was, IT got it fixed. I sitting here at the campus and composing this via the wireless connection. I'm going to see if I can get the info about which patch from one of the techs. (Our Help dept. isn't overseas, but we're located in the Chicago area (4 campuses here in Chicago) and the helpdesk is down in FL. :) ) LaterHoward -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Re: Lombard OS9 hotsync to PalmV?
Thanks Guys, I did get the proper adapter 9 pin- USB from circuit city...it came with a driver ...and I don't know about the infrared option, I do see the area of infrared...it is like open to inside the Lombard are two little red lights...curious... what's this for and who uses these? ...my main problem now is the previous palm V owner has a password...and this is preventing my hotsync operation to go thru. I believe I can reset the palm's uh hard drive...wiping it clean by holding in the reset button but then I would be losing all his goodies too neh? Not that I really want all that he had...but I do want Maxilaris note 2.0 Which brings me to... what are great Palm software options...and what to avoid...i don't want to clutter up my nicely working Lombard witha bunch of unnecessary software. It's a way to share info between two devices using infrared as the carrier--think about a universal TV remote control-pulses of infrared to send signals to do different things. You can use the IR function to share files between compatible computer types too--I once installed MS Office from one of my PB 5300's to another via IR just to see how it would work. The two machines had to be literally inches apart for anything to happen, and the file copying took well over an hour--not a fast process, but if someone had no cabling available to them, it was doable. (I'd never do it again myself, tho. :) ) Later.Howard -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Firewire Connectivity Power Options
Brian, do those Firewire PCMCIA cards provide power when they have a power jack that is designed to plug into the USB port of the laptop, ie I am guessing the idea is that USB pumps power to the card to then act as a powered Firewire repeater. Is this a good guess? Date: Fri, 11 Nov 2005 21:19:57 -0500 From: Brian Scott Oplinger [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: firewire connectivity In-Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Very short answer, FW has an option to carry power along with data, if it does, it uses the 6 pin connector you're familiar with. Your PC card adapter doesn't provide power (nor do a lot of PC notebooks) and so has a 4 pin connector. (This is for FW 400, the older FW spec not the newer spec, FW 800) You have 2 options... 1) If the device doesn't need power, just get a 4 to 6 pin FW cable (will set you back a lot at a Radio Shack, on the order of $50, because they only carry the Sony line of cables anymore, but can be had for lots less online, see www.cableforless.com as an example.) 2) Your device needs power provided by the FW cable. In this case you'll need the cable above *and* a FW hub. (Also called a repeater sometimes although that's actually a different thing) These come with a power adapter and can proved power to the ports downstream of the hub and so provide power for your device. It's possible (probable) several DHCP servers serve the whole campus with each one serving addresses for several Access Points. iBook CD Problem
Hi All... I have a problem with my iBook (G3-500 Dual USB). It will not play an audio CD... keeps ejecting it... constantly! If I put in a program CD, it stays in and shows up on the desktop. I can't, for the life of me, understand what the difference is. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks, Amanda -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and...
