12 PB - Creaky Screen Hinge
Hello everybody, My 12 PowerBook's screen hinge used to be silky smooth. Lately however, the hinge has developed a nasty creaking noise and is a bit sticky. Someone reported correlating their kernel panics with picking up the open Powerbook by the left side. I don't remember exactly what they decided the problem was or how they fixed it. Well, my PB 12 is now doing just that. Loose RAM? Aircard? Fatal flaw? Anyone remember? Thanks, Meg -- PowerBook 12-inch 10.2.6 640 MB RAM It's the Airport Extreme card that causes the problem. Just pop the battery out, open the access door and then remove and re-fit the card. You'll probably have to disconnect the antenna to do this which can be tricky if you don't have nimble fingers.
