Re: OT: Windows Media Player on Website incompatibilities

2003-10-08 Thread Shane Wolfe
It has something to do with the file handlers under your browser. I
can't view any WMP streams/files in Safari or Mozilla, but I can see
them just fine with IE 5.5.

Using my pismo to websurf and every time I try to view video links
requiring windows media player, it doesn't work. The frustrating part
is that they are on commonly used websites like espn, cnet, etc. I've
already checked out www.mactopia.com for the latest version of WMP
for
OS X, but still doesn't improve compatibility. Am I the only one? Any
comments would be most appreciated.
It could be that the stuff you are trying to view is encoded with
Windows Media Player 9, which the latest OS X viewer cannot, to my
knowledge, decode as of yet.

Re: 10.2.8

2003-10-04 Thread Shane Wolfe
My iBook's battery meter reading averaged about 3.5 hours, full LCD
brightness, Airport Card, etc. It is the newest iBook with a 60 Gb
hdd, 384 Mb of RAM, and the 900 MHz PPC750.

With 10.2.8, I've seen little change in battery life. I've gained
between 10 and 20 minutes from the full charge right after the
installation.

Re: Pismo Bluechip G3 900 Eats My Battery

2003-09-29 Thread Shane Wolfe
I generally see 3.5 hours on my battery running everything at full.
Volume, LCD brightness, etc. I do see less if I'm burning a CD or
watching a DVD.
I have the 900Mhz snow iBook.

I would say 1.5 hours is pretty good for upgrading that much. Without
looking up the specs, I'm sure your upgraded processor pulls more
wattage than the old one. Your battery was designed with the old
processor in mind. Even running it at slower cycles, your probably
still going to pull out more wattage than before.

Yes. Forgot to mention that. The G3 750 that's in the 900Mhz iBook
is a low power version.

It also depends on the revision of 750 is in the Bluechip versus on

came with. (Just working towards my next paycheck, wanting a Bluechip
LS G4/500 for my Lombard)

That website is selling them for 8$ and some change each. I'm sure you
can find them cheaper.
