Apologies

2005-03-16 Thread Bob
Arggh!! My last message was supposed to to go to Mike directly, not
to the list. I haven't done that in a long time. :-(

Apologies to all.

Mike, if you would respond privately, I would appreciate it.

Shegrined,

Bob

Folks, this is not an invitation to discuss sources for PC laptop parts

When a friend of mine cracked the bezel on his girlfriends Thinkpad, I
went on ebay and looked for replacements, seems like there's a good
number of parts for those laptops on ebay on a regular basis.

Looks like I was a little late with the last discussion. Blame it on

Apologies for cross posting but need help on surreptitious notsubversive downloading

2002-07-31 Thread Dwight Hines

Situation: I've got a fine Pismo G3 but a terribly slow phone connection.
I need to download some large pgms and docs (Mozilla, etc,) and library only
lets us use 1.4 meg floppies.

So, has anyone been able to slip into the computer sections of their library
and plug a zip drive into one of the almost always IBM type machines and
download to the zip and then sneak out again?

I need to know what plugs have to mate and if I need an entirely new zip
drive. Of course, I would not consider this if someone would sell me a
working Orinoco Wavelan card for 25$ or less. Or an Airport card for 25$ or
less.

Any suggestions would be appreciated and forgive me for cross posting this
on different lists.

dh

P.S. I've heard the 5 gig ipods are best to use for this type of
actitivity.

My favorite is the Sony Memory sticks and USB readers... total damage
for 128 MB: $50.

Works both in the PC and Mac. :-)
