Don't you need a DVD decorder card for the
Wallstreet to play DVD's? Mine plays dvd's cos it has
a decorder.

Re: Can a WS recognize a DVD disk

2005-07-26 Thread Michael Cangelosi
Gary -- you have a CD drive not a DVD drive, apple doesn't support a DVD
in the CD drive -- as an example of different standards that some
computer makers use, take the CD player for you stereo, connect it to
your TV and your DVD should play fine. Unfortunately you won't be able
to copy it though :(

recognize the disk in some way so I could duplicate it with Toast.

Sorry for all the confusion, only DVD drives will recognize a DVD

That's more or less like asking if a cassette drive could 'read' an
LP...you need a DVD drive to read a DVD.

Re: Can a WS recognize a DVD disk?

2005-07-25 Thread Mike
I'd like to duplicate a DVD disk I made with my DVD-R/VCR player/recorder
on my WS but have only the internal CD-ROM drive and an external CD-R/W
drive.

I have Toast Titanium 5, but so far nothing happens when I put a DVD
disk in the internal drive (I have some DVD-related extensions disabled,
such as the DVD decoder extension, but have the Apple CD/DVD extension
activated).

I'm a little confused. Does the Wallstreet have a DVD drive in it? The
CD-ROM that came with the WS is just that, a CD-ROM. It will not read DVD
disks.

Hmmm, I'm not sure I understand, or maybe I'm missing something. You say you
made a DVD disk on your DVD-R/VCR player/recorder on your Wallstreet, but
you only have an internal CD-ROM drive and an external CD-R/W drive. You
lost or can't use your original DVD player/recorder?

If so, then it's not surprising that nothing happens when you put the disk
in any drive. You need a drive that can read DVD disks in order to duplicate
them. If you have only one drive, then you'll need to somehow make a disk
image and then burn that disk image onto a recordable DVD disk.
