The end of the saga...
Reavok...your extra CDdrive is in the mail.
Wegener who now has my Lombard says your drive runs great...Wegener says my
Lombard issues [1] were problems due to bad RAM and a bad PRAM battery which
I had them replace with the max RAM totalling about 170...more in this PB.
So all the issues have been resolved by Wegener...i hope
I just wish I had sent it to them when I got the machine from ebay a year
ago...
live and learn...the hard way
is there any other way?

In August I sent my Lombard to a tech I met on the G-books list. He apparently
spent much time and effort and my 250.00. Unfortunately the problem still
exists. It worked fine he says for him...but from the time I got it back it
would still lock up or not start...and it has been getting worse. I have kids
who must do school work online and its been heartbreaking to loose imputing
when time is an issue. The tech added gobs of shareware and do dads...I just
want it to work plain and simple.
Last week the daughter took the laptop to another location to work on school
work...at the new location it wouldn't start up...She brought it home where it
started fine, did a bit of work and then we shut it down for 4 days, while we
camped. Today it won't boot past Chime. I am running OS 9.2.2 and it is the
366 MHz model.
I have tried the reset button on the back of the pb...force quits, and CD s.
Once I actually did get all the way thru the nice new pictures the tech put
on it...to the window that says Disk Aid will repair ... when it froze
again... and I have opened up the machine and tucked things...
remembering some suggest seating motherboards and daughterboards.
I don't have the right tech skills or language to talk specifically but I
have been on a mac for 16 years. I very upset with this machine and the tech
who has told me that's it too bad...as he thinks I am doing things to the pb.
I am not. I work everyday from my G3 beige, same system, same probrams, same
way, no problem.
since I posted the above letter to the g-books list I have received many
ideas to try...even
Resetting the nvram can clear up all sorts of problems.
I did get to the screen and typed the prompts as you said...and I remember
doing this, also, when I first got the Lombard, $350 off ebay,.
reset-all (and enter)
and it'll restart (hopefully!)
but no ...restart produced only a black screen...
Last spring I replaced the HD from pb fix it @ 80sh or so
this summer gobs of software ironing from that some kinda tech @ 300sh
now the cpu?
maybe its has been the cpu all the time
I noticed that wegener sells a Lombard for 399. just like mine...less than
half of what I have in this one now
