As I mentioned my solution to the Lombard cache failure was to buy another Lombard with a good cache. The new machine came with Panther installed, 512 Mb RAM, a 20 Gb drive and a CDR drive. A very nice package with one problem.
Several keys on the keyboard don't work.

On the left the "caps-lock" key is out as are the "volume up" key, the "4", the "R", the "F" and the "V" key. On the right the "f9" key, the "9" key, the "O" key, the "L" key, the ".>" key, the "up arrow" and "down arrow" keys are out.

For the moment I've just swapped the keyboard off the old Lombard and the new machine is fine although there was some confusion when I couldn't log into the Admin account with the new keyboard. Then I remembered that I had changed the admin password to one with an "R" in it which I had to leave out so I could re-enter the password (this time with the "R").

Meanwhile the bad keyboard on the old Lombard is showing the same problems.
My question is could this be a error in installing the keyboard, perhaps not seating the cable correctly, or is the problem inside the keyboard?
I need to make sure it's not operator error before I yell at the seller.
