Start from the OS-X install CD and run disk utility. Try Techtool if you have it. If all else fails reformat re install. Misbehaving PowerBook G4 400MHz...
I recently bought a cheap (dropped and dented) PB G4 TiBook with a non-working DVD drive, but it ran fine with OS X installed. I then installed OS 9 onto it through FW disk mode and now it's all gone a bit wrong. It won't regognize any System folder on the harddisk, not even the previously working OS X folder, and when starting up from a FW CD it won't see the harddisk anymore. Holding down Option on bootup shows the harddisk with an OS 9 icon (no OS X), flashes the first disk-? for a few seconds, goes over to OS 9 grey startup screen then shows the OS 9 disk-? and stays there. 1. How can I get it to start up from the OS X folder, or rather switch it to see that folder first. Remember the internal optical doesn't work and starting up from an external CD doesn't show the harddrive... :o( Larry _ Don't just search. Find.
