I would suggest upgrading to 9.2.1 It is the most
stable of all version prior to 10.2 and above FWIW

I have heard this before. I may re-install OS9 on my Lombard 400 since
it's been more prone to freezing than in the past.
I've also installed Quicktime 6 which I've heard may cause problems.
I tried going into Open Firmware and re-setting nvram mostly just to see
how it worked. I didn't even know I had OF on this computer till I saw
it mentioned here.

Anyway if I decide to re-install is there any reason to go to 9.2.2?
I seem to recall doing it so the installer for a Skyline wireless card
would run but since I'm no longer using that card I could stop at 9.1.1.

I certainly don't think OS9 is dead, it still does everything I want to
including e-bay and paypal.
I imagine at some point I'll want an application that requires X (Or
I'll replace the Lombard with something that comes with X).
Either way I'm in no hurry to climb that learning curve until I have to.

After all my really important data is on a DOS 5.0 palmtop that has
locked up less than half a dozen times in the last 12 years.
It's not powerful, it's not sophisticated, it's certainly not state of
the art but it works, it's too stupid to harbor malware and it's stone
ax reliable.

OS 9 is terrific when you want to play Marathon as well, which sucks under
Classic.
