I just remember, have you checked on xlr8yourmac.com? I'm sure that I found
compatibility reports from other users there...

You might be able to get more help if you were posting that kind of question
on the G-List (G3 and G4 PowerMacs) or the PCI-PowerMacs lists which are
dedicated to hardware that could use that kind of PCI cards. I'm including
my personal email address because I did put an ATA card in my B&W G3. It
works fine in OS X and I can boot off the disk connected to the card without
installing any driver and my Mac can see the whole 160GB on the drive but I
just can't remember what card it is. I think it's a Sonnet but I'll check it
out later tonight and will email you directly.

Off Topic - ATA133 PCI Card- INFO needed

2005-03-03 Thread BDavis
I DO apologize for asking on this forum!
I've looked over the internet and through several forums for an answer
and found none. But reading it each day as I do I know some of you
G-Book guys are intimately familiar with several Mac models, PCI cards
and such.

I just bought a 160 gig Seagate HD... knowing the limits of my early
Quicksilver G4 (OS X 10.2.4) are something like 128(?) gigs max on
board... and, that to use the rest of the disk I need an ata133 card.

And I see ATA 133 cards on ebay (Hong Kong!) for as low as $10 +s&h ...
also Sonnet and Maxtor cards for somewhat more $$.

I wonder if I can use just any old ATA 133 PCI card? Are there some
that won't work... and how can I tell which ones will? ...and where
might I find a list of either or both?

Again, my apologies for taking up space on the board.
Any help would be most appreciated! Contact me off list at;
