Re: Security Updates/Airport connection

2005-12-21 Thread Wilma Miller
I'm wondering if this is causing the problem that suddenly developed
when I try to access a site I go to every day: www.onepaper.com (a St.
Thomas newspaper online). All of a sudden three different browsers tell
me they can't access the onepaper.com server. I'm not having trouble
with accessing my DSL line or the Internet, just this one site so far.
I've asked other people to try it for me and they have no trouble.
Would the latest Security Update be this selective? Suggestions?

thanks,

I just did a Security Update on my Pismo, OS X 10.3.9, and I am having

trouble accessing the internet. I now have to select (instead of it
being automatically recognized) my home Airport network everytime I
open up the lid of my PB. When I try to use a browser, I get the
message that it can't find the server of the homepage. Do I have to go
into preferences, or somewhere to reset something?

Thanks,
Les

Les,

This is becoming a large scale problem with everyone Mac user I know.
When I run into the problem, for me the quick fix is to disconnect all
power to the ABS. With the power disconnected, shutdown your Mac.
Then after 20 minutes; (the time required for the ABS to hard reset),
plug the ABS back in. Then turn on the Mac. You may have to specify
A Specific Network in the Network settings the first time around, but
it should start working again. I know, it's a pain. Hope this helps.

Re: Security Updates/Airport connection

2005-12-20 Thread Kris Tilford
My iBook lost the ability to connect via Airport card at all. When
Airport was turned ON in the menubar it found no networks at all,
just as if the card was broken. The solution I've found was to
download KisMac and then use the KisMac active Airport driver, in
teh KisMac preferences I believe. Then scan for networks, and when
the network is found, press the join network. You can now quit
KisMac and your normal Airport menubar should now show the network
and signal strength again, and be connected normally. If it drops
again, launch KisMac and reconnect the same way. A slight pain, but
not more then 30 seconds or so to connect. Here's a link to the
KisMac download:
