Glad the CPU replacement cured the ills, yet another point on the now-extensive Lombard-CPU-failure chart. And how about a Superdrive? You can use most any slim drive in an EBM sled, so start with the xlr8yourmac.com drive database and then go shopping. I must say however, any G3 PowerBook is gonna be a tad underpowered for encoding video DVDs, but will work fine for burning data DVDs. Just to let you know that with a new CPU card - all problems gone, even with the original memory. Also a plug for Crucial Memory, who get 10/10 for helpful tech support. The person who picked up the customer support number **was the technician** (no transfers!) and knew all about macs, straight off the top of his head, even down to which models had firmware revisions for RAM speeds. Soo.. now it works, I want to know if anyone has managed to put a superdrive in one of the beasties. It should fit surely! Any pointers to info?
