VHS tapes into Pismo

2005-12-30 Thread Tony Coult
Advice please - I want to save some VHS tape material onto my Pismo
(and attached LaCie hard disk). What is the simplest way of doing
this? I guess I need to hook my VHS recorder to the Pismo, but via
which outputs/imputs? What software do I use? And what format do I
end up with? I have a PCMCIA card with USB 2.0 sockets on but I'm not
looking for speed. UK-based so that might affect hardware
availability. Thanks for any help offered and Happy New Year to all
readers of this. Tony Coult.

I think you need a video converter. Some digital video cameras will do
this (if they have RCA in capability). Otherwise, you can order
something like this:

I just went to Small Dog and typed in video converter.
Cheers,

Re: VHS tapes into Pismo

2005-12-30 Thread illovox
You need either a card called a CAPSURE for your pcmcia slot, or you need
an analogue tgo firewire converter. I have a spare one of the former I
could sell, while many manufacturers sell the latter worldwide...
