Personally I feel the 13in problems are overstated - a loose cable that can
be easily fixed with tape is the only screen issue I've seen in a dozen of
them.

I agree with the 12in FTSN, if you intend running X.

Macopinion. Anyone know of a complete Wallstreet/PDQ online spec?

I would suggest the lowendmac.com, where we all come from!
At the bottom of each page you'll find a link to the Apple specifications.

Ok, my bad. I have been very ignorant of any 12" model, I'm afraid.
Everymac doesn't specify the 12". The cacheless Wallstreet 12" seem to
also have been available in 800 x 600 pixels, as I saw this reference on
Macopinion. Anyone know of a complete Wallstreet/PDQ online spec?

The 12" also came in a passive AND an active matrix display. Make sure you
(or your seller) know which one you're getting. I never minded the passive,
but some folks can't stand them.

The 12in is lower res - 832 x 624 rather than the 1024 x 768 of the 13 & 14.

The display have the same amount of pixels in each model on a smaller
area, but the machines themselves are exactly as big as is the display
house, so there's only more plastics around the 12". I had a 13" and
upgraded it to 14" as I couldn't stand the size.

All Wallstreet are of the same size, regardless of the screen size. The
bottom case is the same, so they have to be of the same size. They are
actually thicker than Lombards and Pismos. It is sometimes difficult to tell
the difference between a Wallstreet I and a Wallstreet II, specially when
talking about the slower model at 233MHz. Wallstreet I were available in
speeds of 233, 250 and 292 MHz. Wallstreet II were available in speeds of
233, 266 and 300MHz. I suggest you have a look at EveryMac.com
 to see the
differences between each model...

Wallstreet-more confusion

2005-04-01 Thread alienbill
Thanks to those who cleared up my questions about Wallstreet ram. Now I am
similarly confused on the size of these units. I had thought to look for a
12.1" screen model reasoning that it would be physically more compact.
Again on the Apple site, I see the exact same measurements given for all
Wallstreets. Is one with a 12" screen really the exact same size overall as
those with 13.3" and 14.1" screens, and even Lombards?

Also WS I and II - how to know the difference? Does the I series lack an L2
cache as a recent posting elsewhere seems to imply?

Thanks again for your help.
