I read this somewhere on the web . . .
[quote]
...a certain number of subpixel anomalies is considered
acceptable.
. . .
€ Bright subpixel anomaly = subpixel that is always on
€ Dark subpixel anomaly = subpixel that is always off

LCD Size (inches) 12.1 to 15.2
Acceptable Number of Subpixel Anomalies
Bright - up to 3
Dark - up to 5
Combination - up to 7

Replace the LCD Panel
Bright - 4 or more
Dark - 6 or more
Combination - 8 or more

If I told you I would have to kill you, as far as I know it depends
on how many are on, off, or stuck I think the magic number is around
seven but it might change depending on how close they are together
and the state of the pixel.

bad pixel counts and Applecare

2006-01-28 Thread Amber Robey
It appears that I now have several bad pixels on my Powerbook.
Coincidentally, Applecare had already told me to take it in to have
the latch assembly (the one on the LCD panel) replaced, as well as
the keyboard.

However, when I took it in for the service guy to check it in and
verify the condition of the computer, he pointed out that there were
several dead pixels (mostly full off/Black) on the screen and that it
may qualify for the entire LCD panel to be replaced.

I was just wondered if anybody has had Apple authorize this before -
how many bad pixels do you normally have to have for them to approve
a complete screen replacement ?
