My Earthlink DSL account (they also have cable) includes some small
amount of dial up minutes per month. They have dial up numbers all over
the place.

Subject: anyone know of cheap ISP to use traveling in lieu of my cable modem?

I have cable modem at home office now, but am interested in a cheap
(preferably with local access nationwide ) ISP for occasional travel. I
saw one pay-as-you-go one at Staples (buy a CD-ROM and then replenish
the minutes as with a phone card) but it doesn't work with Macs (nor do
they plan to do so). Anyone have any recommendations for a cheap
nationwide solution, or is my best alternative to buy a Wi-Fi card and
look for warchalking signs on the sidewalk?
 Thanks,
 David Stephenson

Re: dial up access for travel

2002-07-17 Thread Jeff Lentz

Earthlink (my DSL provider) provides the 20 hours
local dialup, if you can find a local number. Where
that's not an option, their 800 number has been
$0.08/min (just went to $0.10), which for my
infrequent travel is quite a reasonable solution.
It's just included with my monthly bill and couldn't
be easier to use.
