Re: max ram for Wallstreet?

Just because Apple never fully tested 512 doesn't mean it can't be
done. They haven't fully tested 512s so they just say 192 is the
maximum because they don't want heaps of people asking for support if
their 512 screws up.

I think you can go up to 512MB in a Wallstreet. The Apple web site
lists
192MB because at the time when the Wallstreet was introduced, the
density of
the memory chips didn't allow for greater than 192MB.

Re: max ram for Wallstreet?

2005-04-01 Thread Beniamino Cenci Goga
WS works just fine with 512 meg. In 1997-98 low profile modules had a
max size of 64 and the high profile of 128.

Now you have to consider this:
upper slot can accommodate either low or high profile
lower slot can accommodate only low profile modules.
Moreover the memory controller chip in the WS can only address
modules with a maximum number of 16 chips, and each chip can be of
128 megabit density (128 mbits x 16 = 2048 megabits, i.e. 2048 / 8 =
256 megabytes.

Re: max ram for Wallstreet?

2005-04-01 Thread Muddle Man
There is some truth to this. I've run iMac and
Powerbooks with more RAM than will be officially
recognized. This is typical of Apple's Spec database
site.

max ram for Wallstreet?

2005-03-31 Thread alienbill
I'm considering purchase of a Wallstreet 233mhz 12.1 inch screen. If
purchased I'd want to upgrade the memory. On eBay I see 256mb dimms
advertised for Wallstreet/Lombard. Also lowendmac gives its max as 512mb.
BUT on the Apple site I see 192mb given as the max, 1 128 in the upper

is right?

Thanks for any info.
