Re: touch-pads

2002-09-18 Thread KurtWAppling

Re; thats now my guess,I was able to open the mouse equivalent control panel
and make changes to it, but it made no difference in operation, I was
concerned about the trackpad function of these machines because its a
brandnew store(5weeks),I have no idea how fragile trackpads may be to
maintain and use,but so long as Im told this is not normal,,Ill know to get
a machine localy and warranty at first and not wait till the end of the
first year as I have with towers, but at this time I think Im safe from
haveing enough money to have any such difficulty for awhile it seems, best
wishes and thankyou for the help

I was just wondering if someone could have messed with the track pad control
 panel.

Is this the 14.2 LCD screen? IIRC there was some talk on this list a while
back about using cheaper screens available for PC laptops that fit and
worked on Powerbooks. In fact one person claimed to have purchased one off
eBay for $60 that repaired his Pismo.

Check the G-Books archives for threads with LCD screens.

I didn't get the warranty and the price of a new screen ranges from
$900-$1200.00. BUY the warranty for Powerbooks!

I would talk to the people @ COMPUsa and have them take a computer
directly out of the box that has never been used before and let you
try that one. Never trust a display model, at least not from anywhere
but an Apple Authorized Dealer that is at least one-tenth the size of
the CompUSA stores.
