Interesting idea, Tina.
How do you do that, making Safari (or Camino, or FireFox) pretend it’s
an iPad?

I did something like that with my PB1400 running 8.6.
Its Wamcom browser doesn’t digest Wikipedia well, so I use a
"convertor" for reading Wikipedia on a mobile device.

You have to enable Safari's Developer menu, and then you can choose from
a number of different user agent strings to make Safari identify itself
differently.

This was part of John Gruber's plan to minimize your need for Flash plan:

or here:

*AND*

or:

along with using Click To Flash & Google Chrome (Intel only) for when
you are forced to use Flash.

I'm using most of this on my MacPro and happy with the results, my PPC
Macs I'm relying primarily on Click To Flash.

Good choice. You can also put a processor in that DA from a Quicksilver. The
video card is upgradable as well. Also, some of those eMacs didn't have very
good displays, especially for what you will use it for.

Replace the pram. They aren't expensive, or difficult to replace, and most
likely is causing all your problems. Repairing the permissions is always a

Thanks for your input. I believe you are right, and I've got 10 more of these

Losing time is almost always the PRAM battery.

They are nominally 3.6 volts, but brand new ones will usually measure 3.68
volts, and will stay that way possibly for years.

These batteries are essentially DEAD when the voltage measures 3.2 volts,
or below.

Some Macs will work with the battery as low as 3.0 volts, but that is
never guaranteed.

Losing your WiFi can also be due to a weak link to your router.

If/when the link is weak, the connection will be refused, and you may be
asked to re-submit your WPA parameters, even if those are already in your
keychain.

It is possible for the link to be detected, but then it is too weak to go
through the authentication process, which requires that your keychain info
matches the router info.

Powerbook G4 Titanium troubles

This computer is not booting reliably, and now the display is so dark
you cannot see anything on the screen. A hing was broke, but I
repaired that and it was working prior to the hing repair. Any ideas?

Since you mentioned the hinge, I'd be willing to bet that your display darkness

booting reliably." would you mind elaborating?

I will check the cable do they fray inside? I will pull out my

Yes, the display power and data cables both can fray over time, and a broken
hinge only accelerates the fraying process.
