2.5" SATA Drive Needs 3.5" Bracket Converter For B&W G3....

2009-04-24 Thread AHarmon

Has ANYONE bought (or head of, for that matter) of a 2.5"-to-3.5" SATA
bracket conversion kit to use in a G3 or G4?

I've got a 400GB Toshiba drive installed, but finding a bracket for my
G3 is proving to be quiet a challenge

Re: 2.5" SATA Drive Needs 3.5" Bracket Converter For B&W G3....

2009-04-26 Thread AHarmon

Yes, I have scoured the depths of hell looking for the right kind of
drive caddy I want it does not quite exist...

Brackets are easy enough. But I was hoping to find the same kind of
2.5"~3.5" conversion that you can get with
a 3.5"~5" caddy conversion.

I'll just have to either "rough it", or stick with getting another
SeaGate 31000333AS

Either way, it has been an exhausting search...

Semi-Secret Mouse Tricks: Shhhhhhhh

2009-05-01 Thread AHarmon

Ever wonder how to get some of the bells and whistles of an Apple USB/
wireless mouse on a 3rd-party mouse like the Kensington SlimBlade w/
nano adapter - especially the 3rd button functionality...?

The trick is...

Use any Apple mouse to bring up the special mouse function choices and
set them using the Keyboard/Mouse preference pane...

Set the 3rd button functionality to whatever you want, test it with
the 3-party mouse (it works just like the Apple mouse)...

Then disconnect or turn off the Apple mouse and - VOILA!

The 3rd-button functionality is now yours

Re: Semi-Secret Mouse Tricks: Shhhhhhhh

2009-05-03 Thread AHarmon

Dan,

Let me "debug" your comment

MouseWorks does NOT recognize SlimBlade Wireless, or the Ci95m
wireless mice
Neither does the 2007 edition of the SlimBlade software recognize the
wireless mouse with nano receiver

Therefore,
DOA...

Second, Steermouse does not have the ability of the click wheel to
open the "Application Switcher".
In fact, SteerMouse has trouble distinguishing the "Close" button and
"OK" buttons when
the middle button control is set to "Move to Close Button". Why would
this be important?
Well, the "OK" button IS the Close Button for windows like Preference
Settings and the like...

Whoops

"Vastly better control"?

Not quite...

Never leave a computer off of a surge protector for ANY reason.
Period.

Never turn off a surge protector - that just obviates the whole point
- screw the "energy savings"

Try rebooting and resetting the PRAM:

Go to eBay, check out searches like this;

CD/DVD Drives in MDD Bays...

2009-11-24 Thread AHarmon
What is the highest rev version of Panasonic drive (107 et al) that
will fit and work with a MDD PowerMac. Getting the drive in the caddy
is not good enough. It has to be able to eject and retract through
both doors - whose internal bevelings are not identical, BTW

I KNOW a 104-type will work. But how high in that series does the same
drive beveling run? Only Panasonic will work...PLS
