when my fan died on the Radeon 9800, I looked up the specs and ordered the
replacement from Mouser Electronics.

The fan has been acting up emitting intermittent whirring noises.
I removed it, blew it off with compressed air which worked for a while.
Then I added a drop of silicone electrical contact cleaner to a whole
in the back which - I suppose - feeds the point of rotation. This is
working, but I would rather find a replacement fan if I can. Tried
Googling on the only ID info printed on the fan which is ATI 603AC
 but couldn't get a match.

No answer but I'd also like to find one.

It has a 40 mm square bolt pattern and runs on +5 volts.

You want to match it's dimensions and power ratings. The bolt pattern
size is usually good enough, especially for this application. The
thickness is important but in this situation isn't critical. You need
to match the voltage and current. Fans come in a variety of flowrates
and this needs to match the original fairly closely. Some fans list the
rated flowrate in CFM but not all. You're more likely to find the
current rating listed. The current doesn't need to match exactly but it
 should be close.

Can anybody recommend a generic (doesn't have to be Apple) USB keyboard that
features backlit keys?
