G4 Sleep Problem
Hi - I d/c all USB devices - in fact the only things connected to computer are monitor and keyboard. Tried sleep via Apple Menu - it slept for 2 secs. and then woke up again. One pulse of the sleep light on monitor, one breath. Also tried to sleep it by pushing that light, and it didn't respond at all. Here are the Console logs - Mac OS X Version 10.4.11 (Build 8S165) 2009-04-28 21:42:24 -0400 2009-04-28 21:42:26.002 SystemUIServer[80] lang is:en 2009-04-28 21:42:26.029 SoftwareUpdateCheck[121] Checking for updates Apr 28 21:45:46 anne-keller-smiths-power-mac-g4 mDNSResponder: Repeated transitions for interface en0 (FE80::::0203:93FF:FE68:BC92); delaying packets by 5 seconds Apr 28 21:45:48 anne-keller-smiths-power-mac-g4 mDNSResponder: Repeated transitions for interface en0 (10.0.1.3); delaying packets by 5 seconds Apr 28 21:48:04 anne-keller-smiths-power-mac-g4 mDNSResponder: Repeated transitions for interface en0 (FE80::::0203:93FF:FE68:BC92); delaying packets by 5 seconds Apr 28 21:48:06 anne-keller-smiths-power-mac-g4 mDNSResponder: Repeated transitions for interface en0 (10.0.1.3); delaying packets by 5 seconds Any ideas what it means? I booted up the computer, quit out of Software Update, then tried to make it sleep. That's all! Wireless Security
Hi Guys ~ Forced transition of an old bat plugged into the wall for internet access (cable) due to having to wirelessly network two machines now. I note I have WPA-2 Personal set on the iMac (the G4 is still tethered to the wall, but the new iMac will be playing wirelessly). Is there anything more I can do to secure my network so neighbors cannot read my bank account numbers, etc. while online? What's the risk level vs. staying plugged into a wall modem?
