quicksilver 933 fried by power loss
We lost power yesterday. My quicksilver has been on a really good surge protector for two years. It wasn't enough this time however. If I push the on button,a light shows, flickers and dies. The machine never turns on. I am assuming my hardrive is fried.Am I right in assuming that I would have to replace the harddrive and re-install the os? The problem is thta It had Leopard on it. The cost of the new harddrive ,paying someone to install it and buying Leopard would be more than the $65 I oroginally paid for the computer. The question is ,am I right in having to relace the harddrive? It might be worth it if that is all that is necessary. It is a 1 gig computer and has a 933 processor.Would I have to do more? -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. itunes and windows 64 bit
I just installed itunes 64 bit on my windows 7 home premium 64 bit computer. It works two thirds of the time and then crashes. Since my windows computer has newer and more usb pots,I'dlike to connect my ipod ist gen to the windows computer. Any suggestions? Microsoft tells me the problem has been solved except for Quicktime but that 64 bit used to have a problem with itunes. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. How do I get Safari to display in wide screen?
I just replaced the 19 inch lcd monitor I used for my windows with a 25 incher. I switched the 19 inch monitor to my Quicksilver 933 with Leopard. Safari won't display in a full screen for me but I'm sure the fix must be simple. What is it? I've checked preferences and display. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. Spring may come?-ot
Three days in a row a bird woke me up. Then we hit a cold snap. This is turning out to be a cold February. yesterday I shoveled 8 inches of snow but that is is only the second big storm we've had and other states have gotten more than that. How is the pet store coming along. How is everyone? There is a cute video on Youtube in which 2 African Grays and two Eclectus play basket ball. Gumdrop plays soccer but doesn't have the concentration those birds have. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. Research can be confusing.tv or pc monitor for my Dell computer
I want to get a larger monitor for my computer. My lcd is only 19 inches. I have talked to at least 15 people including a Dell tech. Most say a tv is just as good or better than the pc monitor. One man said that the tv can cause a problem by feeding info in the computer faster than the computer can take. My husband,a non -computer person, says why do they make monitors if tvs are just as good. He wonders if the tv might be a good idea since we can also use it as a tv. I would like a 25 or 26 inch product. Tiger Direct has a 25 inch monitor with 1980/1080 for $199.Even paying postage that sounds as if it is good. What should i do? lcd tv or pc monitor? Is the tv just as good or better? Can the tv cause problems by feeding data in too fast to the computer. Are some companies better than others? I am leaning towards Samsung but the company in the ad is i-inc? I have a Dell Inspiron 530s. Sometimes research can just confuse the issue. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. Should I upgrade to 10.5.8 on a G4 933 Quicksilver that already has 10.5.7 on it?
Will there be a problem? I just had this computer upgraded from 733 to 933 and added ram to total 1.3.I don't have 10.5 dvds to reinstall if there is a major problem. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. help in upgrading powermac quick silver 733
I have a Powermac Quick Silver 733 with a 30 gig hard drive and 1.3 gig ram. I just purchased a 933 processor for this on ebay for $40. I want to replace the hard drive but am having problems finding one on the internet.I have been using hard drive for quick silver with no luck. I would like to get at least a 60 hd or 80 if the machine will take it and costs will allow.I understand I will have to purchase the os before I finish the upgrade. It will take a while to get this for a reasonable price.I have leopard 10.7 on the machine. It came with that. I hope this is the right group. Two groups have told me I have contacted the wrong one. This machine is a G4 of course. Do I need to get the os dvds before I have the 933 processor put in?If I have the 933 processor put in,will it be easier to fool the machine to reinstall leopard when I increase the hard drive? The installed hard drive is a Quantum Fireball and not the original for the computer. Someone has suggested correctly that, the upgrades I propose will make the computer close to to a Mac mini in cost. That may be true but I don't want a Mac Mini with Intel. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. end of life Apple computers
I have a G3 and G4 Apple desktop. My birthday is approaching and I would like to buy a newer apple computer. I have enquired about end of life desktops at Apple stores and am told they don't have any. Is this just a stock answer so you will buy a newer one? Where can I find an end of life computer? Desktop displays oddly.
I have a G4 desktop computer with mac os x . One day I clicked on display and it gave me two options for black and white, black on white and white on black. have a trendnet kvm switch but can't get it to let my studio 17 apple monitor to work with my G3 and G4
My goal was to get my Power G3 b...@w and G4 desktop on the same printer, monitor and mouse. A simple data transfer switch lets me use one computer. trying to upgrade from 9.0 to 9.1
I am the lady who 10.3 on her Power G3 [EMAIL PROTECTED] and wanted to use classic. The suggestions you gave me thankfully got rid of the panic error and i installed 10.3 again. I still couldn't use 9 though. It was wet, cold and snowy today so I decided to try from the other end. 9.1 would not install but the cd said update. So I now have hopefully a clean install of 9.0 . When I try to install 9.1,I get the confusing error that you can only install 9.1 over 9.0. I am never offered the option of "select" only "go back". "Help" instructions mention doing a clean install but I can't find the disk utility and such an option isn't offered elsewhere. The bios is 154 but that shouldn't be a problem this time. I am pushing the c button when I reboot. Were there some bugs in 9 that are preventing me from upgrading?
