Re: My G4 seems to be running slow
Slow while surfing the web, working with Photoshop Elements, watching video (didn't used to be choppy, now it is). The games I've been running are supposed to be for a faster processor, 1.8ghz, but I have more memory than required and oddly they work pretty well. Re: My G4 seems to be running slow
I have 15 folders on my desktop, mostly with jpg files. I did download CandyBar and found some cute Halloween icons for my desktop. Could that be the problem? I'm an artist and a woman, and maybe it's silly to you guys but I like interesting icons. But if they are slowing down my computer I'll get rid of them. I did download OnyX and it seems to have helped. Re: My G4 seems to be running slow
Well, OnyX helped but my video (YouTube, etc) is still choppy. Here's my video card info: NVIDIA GeForce4 MX: Chipset Model:GeForce4 MX Type: Display Bus: AGP Slot: SLOT-1 VRAM (Total): 64 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID:0x0171 Revision ID: 0x00a2 ROM Revision: 1091 Displays: E17LCD2: Resolution: 1024 x 768 @ 75 Hz Depth:32-Bit Color Core Image: Software Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported It isn't more than a year old. Could it be outdated already? Re: My G4 seems to be running slow
I guess I should have said I bought the chip less than a year ago. It's only been over the past month that I've noticed my computer slowing down. It takes longer to load all the ads on websites too. The ads are annoying enough without having to wait even longer for them to load. I upgraded to this G4 from a Blue and White G3 and I thought a 933 would serve me for awhile. It has to; I can't afford to upgrade again right now! Re: My G4 seems to be running slow
Does anyone know of a way to monitor your bandwidth usage? My friend said maybe ATT has just cut back on their bandwidth or speed or whatever and could be causing the slowdown. I'm on ATT DSL. Here's mine: Download Speed: 1311 kbps (163.9 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 325 kbps (40.6 KB/sec transfer rate) I don't know what it means, but that's the result I got. Re: My G4 seems to be running slow
How do you download video and what is VLC? It's YouTube that runs slow. Other video is not so bad. TV shows bought from iTunes I'll have to check. Last time I got one it ran fine. I'm planning to buy an episode of Ghost Hunters so I'll see if it plays as well as it used to.
