OT: Multiple Voting When It's Prohibited
I'm curious: how do folks get around online quizzes and such that have a limit on voting? For instance, if I can vote once / day I see a note that reads Already Voted! after I have done so. Which is as it should be. However, I'm sure that folks have packed their votes by voting multiple times in one day. Not that I intend to do this (at least not for now!), but how is it possible to get around the once / 24 hour rule? I've tried a few things already: - Emptied the cache - Trashed cookies forms - Reset Safari Those don't work, so how do they do it? The more things that do not work, the more curious I am to find how it is done! - Judy B -- -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. Re: OT: Multiple Voting When It's Prohibited
More often than not, the voting system records your ISP address, and or your email address, beyond that, most of the limitations come from those who are doing the polling/recording the vote tally. As to getting around it, you can have multiple email addresses and or vote from multiple ISP addresses/locations. Carefully. :) Not that I intend to do this (at least not for now!), but how is it possible to get around the once / 24 hour rule? Primative systems marked you with a cookie. Those days are gone. Now they record one or more of: Your public IP (issued by your ISP). Your private IP (issued by your home/office router/WAP). Your MAC address (the hardware ethernet address of your computer). Your browser's footprint (a combination of parameters). Your userid, email address, etc. So all you gots to do is figure out which they're using, and change 'em... - Dan. -- - Psychoceramic Emeritus; South Jersey, USA, Earth. -- -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
