Jeez Bruce, if *you* don't know the answer to something it might not 
be possible!

get info on an example file
select the application you want to open that file under Open with
click on [change All...] to apply this globally

Well that only changes, for example, .pl files, that leaves me to go  
hunt down conf files, log files, .css files, .sh files, .py files, etc  
etc etc. This is my programming editor, and thus I open a LOT of  
different kinds of files with it, at least by extension. They're all  
just text files, but there's a whole bunch of different extensions.

The solution (thanks to Robert MacLeay on the macintel list) was to  
edit (with BBEdit, natch :-) ~/Library/Preferences/ 
com.apple.LaunchServices.plist and search for every instance of   
'textwrangler' and replace it with 'bbedit'.

I just got BBEdit 9, I've been using TextWrangler, and I have a whole
