Yep... you could have seen a demo of the AppleCrate at a previous KFest. 

One of the workshops at KFest 2011 is

It's off topic, and about thrice removed, but it's about Apple gear and is just 
staggeringly cool:



A 17-processor parallel processing computer made of Apple //e logic boards, 
with specialized networking and dispatch software written in AppleSoft basic, 
and a home-hacked ROM that allows network booting.
