Re: Unused, in box, mint 17 Studio Displays (2)
Used 17 displays go through ebay for little money. But many of those are half-broken: the fly-back transformers are very fragile, and expensive/very difficult to replace. So I’m sure your new ones are just what many users have been wishing for. Actually, not a bad thought, saw a few QuickSilvers for under $100 and a legacy system could be worth to have. That is something I will contemplate and track here on eBay. Thanks. The inverse/alternative suggestion, depending on just how much you are particularly in love with them, would be to snag an apropos G4 (like a DA or QS) that would allow you to actually use one. The current price for a nicely appointed QS is such that this solution is not that expensive. Then make it your legacy machine. Just my 2¢ worth. Unused, in box, mint 17 Studio Displays (2)
I bought these in the transition days, when I had an early G4, thinking they would work with my next G4 that had ADC connector (or buy an adapter). However, I misjudged the whole thing and they never got set up. I think these displays are the coolest ever, with clear acrylic cases - so I've just been hanging on to them. They are almost unusable just due to the need for ADC adapters. Since they are in original cartons they really take up a lot of space and I'm really wondering if there is any possible historical / uniqueness value. What suggestions, advice for selling or repurposing does anyone have? Thanks for your thoughts. -David -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. LEM Swap list of course. I predict you will get offers just from this post. They may not make it as far as the swap list.
